Plate Competition Final
The Allen Cooper Handicap Plate had a fairytale ending with division 4's lowest ranked team Howard de Walden E winning the final against their fellow division 4 opponents Barming E, who had comfortably beaten them twice in the league programme. The key game was between the two Captains with the match finely balanced at 4-3 to HdeW. Bob Gant took the first leg 31-26 off a 5-16 starting deficit and looked to be heading for victory. Christina Day held the second leg 31-28. In the third Bob caught up to 25 all but justed flagged a bit as Christina rallied to win 31-27 and seal a team victory, sparing Stuart Day and Stuart Wade from a potential nail biting finale. HdeW had gone 2-0 and 3-1 up before Barming pegged it back to 3-3. In the seventh game Sandra Parkes found it difficult to overcome Adam Lufti's 15-5 start to keep up the momentum, going down 18 and 22. The winners for Barming were Stuart Wade 1 (over Adam Lufti), Bob Gant 2 (v Adam Lufti and Stuart Day) whilst for Howard de Walden Christina Day was the star of the night with 3 wins, supported by Stuart Day and Adam Lufti with a win apiece.
To nicely round it off Janie Cooper kindly came along and presented the winners and runners up with their momentoes.
